Hello fight fans and welcome to ScoreMobile's ongoing coverage of the UFC. Tonight we present UFC 154: St. Pierre vs. Condit.
While we have five fights on tonight's main card, the business end is all about the welterweight division. Long-time division kingpin Georges St. Pierre returns to action for the first time in 18 months while Carlos Condit gets the opportunity to unify the interim title he won while GSP was sidelined with a torn ACL.
The co-main event is also in the 170 lbs. class with an eliminator bout between Martin Kampmann and Johny Hendricks.
@rain Apparently Cote won by DQ do to strikes to the back of the head.
Also worth noting that a fight between Nick Ring and Consta Philippou that was scheduled for the main card was scrapped when Ring fell ill today. Both fighters made weight yesterday.
First fight will be featherweights: Mark Hominick vs. Pablo Garza.
By the way, love the NCAA F references make their way into the comments.
We'll keep some main event predictions flowing, but any thoughts on this first scrap?
@Newbs Thanks for joining. Any lean for you in that fight?
By the way, this first fight is a pretty important one for both guys. Hominick on three-fight losing streak, Garza having lost his last two.
Hominick wasted no time in getting down to the aisle to get ready to go into the cage.
Garza has a big height and reach advantage -- nearly 6 inches in the reach department
UFC 154 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada presented by.... the United States Marine core. Kinda funny.
Hominick instantly takes the middle of the cage and lands a nice quick combo, Garza answers back with one of his own. THey then trade nasty leg kicks.
Hominick really looking to push forward and set the pace.
He lands a nice sharp right. Garza with a good body kick.
Garza has a jab blocked and then misses on with aright hook.
LEg kick lands for Garza, Hominick pins him in the corner and lands a good combo. Garza escapes with a nice knee that looked pretty lethal, but didn't seem to phase Hominick .
Hominick nearly landed a nice counter uppercut, but then got caught with another solid leg kick.
Garza with the leg kick then goes upstarirs with the head kick, but it's blocked.
A big punch from Hominick lands and seems to have hurt Garza a bit.
