Good afternoon footy fans! What a match we have for you, as Real Madrid welcome Manchester United to the Santiago Bernabeu in the opening match of their round of 16 tie. I'm David Esposto for theScore Live Blog, thank you for joining me!
Who will get the leg up tonight - Real Madrid or Manchester United?

Real Madrid (4-5-1) Lopez; Arbeloa, Ramos, Varane, Coentrao; Khedira, Alonso; Di Maria, Ozil, Ronaldo; Benzema. Substitutes: Adan, Pepe, Kaka, Carvalho, Essien, Modric, Higuain.
Manchester United (4-4-2) De Gea; Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra; Jones, Carrick; Welbeck, Kagawa, Rooney; Van Persie. Substitutes: Lindegaard, Anderson, Valencia, Smalling, Hernandez, Giggs, Cleverley.
3 mins: RVP tries to play Kagawa through down the right, but the former Dortmund man is called offside. Diego Lopez clears the goal kick.
4 mins: Manchester United caution - yellow card - RVP for brushing the face of Ramos as the goal kick from De Gea cleared the halfway line.
5 mins: Real hit the inside of the post! What a save from De Gea as he does well to save the shot from Coentrao. The Spaniard gets a piece of the shot and pushes onto the post. United lucky not to concede early on. Real pressing.
6 mins: Ramos with a free kick delivery from the left, he plays it into the far post, but its headed over the bar.
@Baxter9023: Not even on the bench, so I'm assuming its an injury.
8 mins: Corner United, from the left. Rooney to deliver. It's drifted into the area, but headed up into the air. It falls to Rafael, but nothing doing. Real Madrid push up into the United half, but United have a throw in their own end.
9 mins: United have another throw on the left, its headed forward, but Madrid are in control down the left with Benzema, he tries to cross for Ronaldo ,but the Portuguese didn't jump and United clear, as Rooney tries to spring the counter, but Varane is there to cut off the pass to RVP.
11 mins: Real continue to push forward, Ronaldo does well to get beyond Rafael on the left and he plays a ball into the box for Benzema, but his shot is blocked. Ozil and Ronaldo work a one-two but United come away with the ball.
12 mins: United on the attack momentarily as they have a throw-in down the left. Possession is short lived as Rooney has a shot that doesn't hit the net.
13 mins: Free kick United in their own half. Ferdinand skies it into the Madrid half and tries to pick out Welbeck, but Madrid clear.
14 mins: Phil Jones fails to keep control near the byline and concedes the corner from the right. It's skied into the area by Ozil and nearly finds Ramos, but it goes beyond him and Varane.
16 mins: Real Madrid free kick in the United final third. Alonso skies the ball into the far post for Ramos, but Evans gets his head on it and skies it over the bar. Corner Madrid. The corner is drifted into the area and De Gea comes out to clear and gets a piece of it, just does enough.
18 mins: Madrid on the ball now, creating space. Arbeloa feeds a pass through for Ozil and the centre of the pitch opens up. He has a shot on goal and it goes out of bounds for a United throw. They put the ball back into play, as the play then ends with a De Gea goal kick.
19 mins: De Gea tries to pick out Kagawa and nearly does so. The Madrid defenders then clear for the corner, from the left...
20 mins: GOAL! United 1-0! Welbeck! Rooney delivers the corner and Welbeck does well to hold off Ramos, find space and get a clean head on the ball as he puts it into the bottom right corner. 17th headed goal of the season for United in all competition. Red Devils up!

22 mins: Ronaldo on the ball down the left. Good work by Rafael to hold him off, as Ferdinand came in to help his teammate. Real with a throw in deep in the United final third. De Gea then called into action as he pushes a shot from Di Maria past the post. Corner from the right.
23 mins: Nothing doing from the corner, but Madrid are still on the ball. United then win it back and push it out to the right flank. Rooney nearly finds Welbeck, but Diego Lopez boots it away.
25 mins: Good passing from Madrid, but Carrick does well to come across and get a touch on the ball as it leads to another Madrid corner from the right. It's played into the area and De Gea gets enough to clear the danger momentarily, as it leads to a Madrid throw.
26 mins: Madrid press, but it ends with nothing, as De Gea clears the goal kick.
27 mins: Dangerous free kick for Madrid here. Ronaldo prepping himself. It's driven straight into the United wall. The shot hit RVP right in the face, as Ronaldo then hits a volley with his left foot that narrowly misses the inside of the left post.
29 mins: Madrid on the attack still. They have a throw-in deep in the United final third and its taken quickly. Ozil takes the throw in quickly to Di Maria. The Argentine looks up and picks out Ronaldo in the area...
30 mins: GOAL! Madrid equalize 1-1! Ronaldo rises up way high and Evra had no chance as the hangtime from Ronaldo was too much to deal with from the United captain, as he heads the ball into the bottom right corner - power and placement. All level again! No celebration from the former United man either, class.

33 mins: United come close! RVP and Kagawa work a nice one-two down the left flank. RVP then swings it into the area and finds Welbeck who sticks out his left studs and nearly finds the right side of the net. Ends with a corner for United. Diego Lopez with a crucial touch to push it past the post.
