These teams met in the first round of the playoffs a year ago with the Flyers winning the series in six games, whether NBC accepts that outcome or not. These teams will meet four times this season.

No major injuries for the Penguins to deal with at the moment. The Flyers will start the season without Daniel Briere who suffered a wrist injury in Germany in December. As for Chris Pronger, it's looking more and more like he won't be back after suffering a concussion in November of 2011.

With Pronger's return in doubt, Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren named Claude Giroux the 19th captain in team history on Tuesday night. Giroux had 28 goals and 93 points last season. He suffered a neck injury playing in Germany, but he is set to play today.

Great to be back. I'm glad the boys finally came to an agreement and didn't rob us of an entire season. Every game is important in this shortened season, and teams can't afford to get out to slow starts.
