Tune in at 12:30 PM ET as the Penguins take on the Capitals. Navin Vaswani will be liveblogging for your enjoyment.
Pens and Caps coming up. Vokoun and Holtby between the pipes.
That's the second and last prediction I'm approving. Thanks.
Vokoun's numbers very superior to Holtby's so far in this early season. I think the Vokoun addition for Pittsburgh was a very smart one.
This game's UNDERWAY folks.
Early shot by Ovechkin went wide from the high slot, as Neal bumped him.
No whistle 90 seconds into the game. I like it a lot.
17:45 Chimera with Washington's first good scoring chance, a shot from the left circle, stopped by Vokoun. Now a scramble after a jam play in front of Vokoun, but the Pens goalie has it covered for a whistle.
No Erskine in this game for the Caps, of course, as he was suspended three games for throwing an elbow.
Ribeiro leads the Caps in scoring with 8 points in 8 games. Ward has 6 points. Chimera has 5 points. Ovechkin has 3 points. That must change.
Ovechkin throwing the body early, one big hit on the forecheck, and another in the Caps zone, drilling Crosby after #87 put a backhand wide of the net.
PENGUINS SCORE! Right off a faceoff in the Caps zone!
Faceoff won clean by Crosby, Martin wristed it on goal, and Kunitz tipped it in beautifully. Puck goes through the legs of Holtby, who had no chance.
Kunitz from Martin and Crosby.
Pens outscoring their opponents 11-2 in the 1st period of games so far. Impressive. They come ready to play.
15:30 Good response shift by the Caps after the goal, a backhand was stopped by Vokoun. Then a partial break for the Pens, and Holtby made a great pad save to keep this game at 1-0.
14:55 CAPITALS SCORE! Mike Green!
Green was hit hard on the forecheck as he chased the puck, by Letang, behind the net. Ovechkin then caused a turnover with a hit in the corner. Puck came to Wolski, who fed Green in the slot, and he roofed it past Vokoun, a brilliant shot.
We're tied 1-1. Great start.
14:17 Holtby just made a nice blocker save off a shot from the right circle.
Green from Wolski and Ribeiro is the scoring play on the tying goal.
13:35 Icing against the Caps.
Alex Ovechkin is not a handsome man, this is true, but he's a good player.
13:08 Icing on the Pens now.
I haven't seen anything "cheap" from the Caps so far.
12:15 Wolski just put one wide from in front, off a rebound, after Vokoun stopped a long shot.
11:40 PENGUINS SCORE! Looks like another deflection off a point shot.
Engallend took the shot and it hit either Cooke or Schultz's stick and beat Holtby.
There was a turnover in the Caps zone, the Pens went back to the point, and Engelland's shot was a one-timer from the left point. A good low shot. And Cooke does get the goal.
10:39 Adams with a weak shot skating down the RW, turned aside by Holtby. Pens continue to force the play, cycling and keeping possession.
