16:20 Kings play such a smothering style - no team in these playoffs have been able to make a 1 goal lead look more daunting.
Kings are up 17-14 in hits now. In Game 1, the Devils were credited with 44 hits and 15 blocked shots, compared to the Kings’ 35 hits and six blocked shots. I think a lot of that can be attributed to the Devils having to chase the Kings around for most of the game.
14:45 Salvador's shot tipped out front by Josefson!!
14:45 Quick well out to cover off the tip and hold for no rebound! Looked very Tim Thomas like on that one. Quick just playing unbelievably this year.
14:10 Stephen Gionta, younger brother to Brian Gionta of the Habs, trying to get something going for the Devils' forth line right now. They were HUGE for Jersey in the Eastern finals. I picked this line as one of the keys to this series.
12:30 The Devils are definitely getting their chances in this game. Lots of traffic out front. Shots are 15-9 Jersey right now.
11:40 Zubrus and Zidlicky with a give and go that created a stellar tip play for Zubrus. I like what Jersey are doing. Tip plays and shots are more like shot passes trying to find sticks outside of the shooting lanes.
10:30 Carter with a HUGE chance on the won faceoff after the icing! Brodeur was once again down with the stacked pads, and Richards had been stopped in the crease!
10:20 DeBoer took a risk on not calling the Timeout after the icing, and it almost caught them! You think he'll be Teeing it up on the next icing!
He took down Carter. Maybe saved a goal?
10:10 Zajac and Parise with a shorthanded chance to start off this KIngs' PP!!!
10:00 Shot wide! Zajac with a BEAUTY move on Doughty to create that, but then didn't shoot!??
9:40 New Jersey are ranked only 13th on the PK in the playoffs at 16 for 63. Getting it down so far on this one. Brodeur with a big save and the Devils clear.
8:20 The Kings are the 2nd worst team on the PP in the playoffs at 8.0% (6 for 75) and they just blew another chance. Back to even strength.
7:40 Lamorello has changed the identity of this team when he made the Kovalchuk deal.
7:20 Frasers' shot off the 2 on 2 is held by Brodeur. He had the top glove picked, but not enough heat on the shot to beat old Marty.
@Kevin I thought that Jersey was probably the worst fit in the league for Kovalchuk. Never saw this coming from them.
@fishooker Lindros just twitched.
6:30 The Mike Richards line with a chance that the Devils stop and then Richards' lays TWO big chops on Marty in the blue paint!
PENALTY: KINGS - KING (HIGH-STICKING)
Got it up on Josefson in the neutral zone.
