Tune in at 3:30 PM ET as the Kings take on the Blackhawks. Gino Bottero will be liveblogging for your enjoyment.
Welcome everyone! I'll be live blogging today's game between the Chicago Blackhawks and Los Angeles Kings.
Chicago won the first meeting between these teams on January 19th, 5-2.
The Blackhawks are the only team in the NHL without a loss in regulation (11-0-3). They are just the fourth team in NHL history to record a point in each of their first 14 games to start a season. The first three teams to do so each went on to win the Stanley Cup.
The road team is 5-1 in the last six meetings between these teams. The Kings were victorious in each of their two visits to the United Center last season.
Los Angeles enters this game off back-to-back wins. The team hasn't won three games in a row since taking a 3-0 series lead in the 2012 Stanley Cup Final.
The Kings have score the fewest goals in the NHL.
Anthem time in Chicago. The game should get underway shortly.
Jonathan Quick will be back between the pipes for the Kings today after Jonathan Bernier started each of the last two games. Quick has posted a 2.70 GAA and .891 SV% while going 3-4-2 this season.
Ray Emery will start for the second straight game for the Blackhawks as Corey Crawford recovers from an upper-body injury. Emery is 4-0-0 with a 2.21 GAA and .930 SV% on the season.
Patrick Kane leads the Blackhawks in goals, assists, and points. He's recorded a point in 13 of 14 games this season, and is currently riding an eight-game point streak.
Jonathan Toews has recorded four goals and three assists in his last five meetings with Los Angeles.
They're about ready to begin in Chicago. Ray Emery and Jonathan Quick between the pipes.
20:00 The game is underway.
19:43 A turnover at the Kings blue line leads to a 2-on-1 for the Blackhawks, Hossa carries, keeps, and shoots and Quick absorbed the shot. A great early chance for the Hawks.
19:18 A bouncing puck nearly leads to another 2-on-1 for the Blackhawks but Toews couldn't corral the puck.
18:29 Bolland with an extra move at the blue line and it leads to a Chicago offside.
Chicago has been very aggressive in looking for offense early on. If the Kings continue to allow these kinds of chances it's going to be a long day for them.
17:11 Stalberg sends the puck deep and the Blackhawks elect to make a chance rather than chase after it.
16:36 Kruger with a wrap around, Quick makes the initial save but a golden opportunity for the Blackhawks with the puck free on the blue ice and Richards made a great back check, diving into the crease to rob the Blackhawks of a goal.
16:19 Quick absorbs a long shoot-in to force a faceoff to his right.
15:57 Toews with a partial break up the left side but he slowed to make a move and that allowed Ellerby to catch him and poke the puck away.
15:07 A long shoot-in gets steered into the corner by Emery who sees his first action of the day.
14:02 Icing called against Los Angeles.
I agree. Bernier's got the hot hand. However Darryl Sutter knows he needs to get Quick rolling again if the team is going to defend their title.
13:31 GOAL - The Blackhawks move the puck around in the Kings end, Seabrook sneaks down from his spot at the point and catches Quick off his line for the easy goal.
CHI GOAL - 6:29 Brent Seabrook from Duncan Keith and Michael Frolik
12:26 The puck goes out of play in the Chicago end, sending the game to break.
