Tune in at 12:30 PM ET as the Flyers take on the Sabres. Gino Bottero will be liveblogging for your enjoyment.
Welcome everyone! I'll be live blogging today's game between the Buffalo Sabres and Philadelphia Flyers.
The Flyers opened their season with a 3-1 loss to the Penguins yesterday. They'll look to bounce back in this one.
Mikhail Grigorenko cracked the Sabres roster, making him the first 18-year-old to make the Sabres opening day roster in 25 years.
The Sabres will start the season without Nathan Gerbe and Cody McCormick who are both on injured reserve.
These teams will meet three times this season. Philadelphia swept their season series with Buffalo a year ago.
Ville Leino is OUT today for the Sabres.
I'm sure you guys can come up with better comments than that today.
Ilya Bryzgalov gets the start for the second day in a row. Last season he was 4-0 and stopped 101 of 110 shots against the Sabres.
They're about ready to begin in Buffalo. Ilya Bryzgalov and Ryan Miller between the pipes.
20:00 The game is underway.
19:44 Icing called against Philadelphia.
19:05 Both teams have been sloppy to start the game. Too many neutral zone turnovers to count.
18:51 A turnover leads to a chance for Giroux in front but he fired the puck wide.
18:26 Puck out of play in the Philadelphia end.
Foligno and Hartnell both get sent off on offsetting minors. Buffalo wanted to play with more of an edge this season and we get to see it early.
The teams will play 2 minutes of 4-on-4.
18:18 Puck out of play by the Flyer bench.
I wouldn't underestimate the magic Brian Boucher can create in a Flyer jersey.
17:09 Philadelphia gets screwed out of an icing call. Looked like Grossmann got there first.
16:51 Ennis with space up the left side but he fired the puck wide.
16:26 The trouble makers are back on the ice.
15:26 Giroux dumps the puck into the Sabre zone and Simmonds is first to it.
14:42 Buffalo went in offside.
I imagine every GM was kicking himself after that contract was signed.
Rough start to yesterday's game for them as well.
14:00 Only 1 shot on goal through 6 minutes.
13:57 A fight breaks out between Luke Schenn and Marcus Foligno but the officials break it up right away.
