Tune in at 3:30 PM ET as Wake Forest takes on Notre Dame. Rob Sturney will be liveblogging for your enjoyment.
I'm Rob Sturney here with The Score's continuing coverage of NCAA football. Today we have the #3 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish hosting the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Some have described this game as a "trap game" keeping in mind that Notre Dame has USC to face next week.
The teams have only met once and that was last season in Winston-Salem where the Irish won 27-17.
Last week the Irish beat Boston College 21-6 while Wake Forest lost 37-6 to North Carolina State.
USC has gone down 7-0 right off the bat to UCLA in their game.
Watch for the Demon Deacons using the Wildcat and quarterback Price hitting his favourite target Campanaro, who leads the ACC in receptions per game.
Golson will seek Jones and Eifert often and utilize Wood and Riddick out of the backfield. On third and short, he tends to call his own number behind Golic and Lombard on the right side.
Of course, all eyes will be on the Notre Dame inside linebacker Manti Te'o. There was plenty of Heisman talk early in the season about the man from Hawaii, but it's died down now. Still, he leads the team in interceptions (6) and tackles (92). Defensive end Tuitt leads the squad in sacks with 11.
The Demon Deacons need to win one more game to be bowl eligible. They've got Vandy next week.
Vandy doesn't have a potent offense at 88th in the country in passing yards and 114th in rushing yards. They face the number one team in the country in points against (11.1).
Top ranked Kansas State squares off against Baylor tonight and the #2 Oregon Ducks will play against #13 Stanford.
The Demon Deacons have wins against Liberty, North Carolina, Army, Virginia and Boston College this season.
This shouldn't be much of a challenge for the Irish, but you never know . . . that's why some consider it to be a trap game.
The Irish nosetackle Nix was ejected from last week's game against Boston College for unsportsmanlike conduct after a shoving match with an opponent, but he's back for today.
I believe it's Senior Day in South Bend, Indiana as well.
Jim Grobe will hope he doesn't lose any offensive lineman to injury today; Wake Forest is a little low on personnel on the O-line.
Grobe will also hope for more rushing yards from Harris and Martin today. Bonahan is a fellow who gets carries and receptions out of the backfield.
We're not too far from the kickoff in South Bend.
Well, it looks like we're going to meet all the ND seniors and their parents.
Zeke Motta has carried a sledgehammer onto the field. Motta is tied with cornerback Jackson for second place in tackles with 52.
It looks like Brian Kelly is getting a little impatient with the ceremony. Here comes Manti Te'o. What a career he's had at Notre Dame.
Here come the rest of the Fighting Irish in their navy blue jerseys with gold pants and helmets.
Wake Forest wear white jerseys with black pants and helmets.
Okay, we're ready to roll. Notre Dame will receive. Newman boots it to McDaniel who moves it out of the end zone and gets to the 17. FLAG.
It was holding on Notre Dame so they'll take it from their 8 yard line. Riddick gets the first call and pounds out three yards.
ND 2nd and 7: Wood goes nowhere as Whitlock the nose tackle. It's a loss of four yards.
ND 3rd and 11: Golson in an empty backfield. He hits Riddick for a gain of 25 yards.
ND 1st and 10 (ND 32): Woods on his way to the house . . . TOUCHDOWN! On the option right play.
Woods gets his fourth touchdown on the season. 68 yards on the score. Brindza makes it seven.
Well, that's how you get rolling at home on Senior Day. Wood picked up a couple of nice blocks and the rest was pure speed.
I think some people are assuming that ND will get the call if they, Kansas State and the Ducks are all undefeated.
Brindza will boot the ball back to Harris and Okoro. Martin, in fact, gets the play and takes it to the Wake Forest 29.
WF 1st and 10 (WF 29): Price had plenty of time to hit Ragland who might be a half yard short of a first down.
Harris can't punch through the line to make the first down and it might be third and inches.
WF 1st and 10 (WF 39): Out of the shotgun, Price reaches Harris who makes the catch but gets pounded. FUMBLE. RECOVERY NOTRE DAME, Motta falls on the ball.
