Welcome college football fans! Tonight I will be live blogging The Scores' NCAA football game between Florida State and Virginia Tech!
When the 2012 schedules were released this appeared to be a prequel of the ACC Championship. Unfortunately the Hokies have been a huge disappointment which means FSU should be able to take care of Virginia Tech. At the same time it is a Thursday night at Lane Stadium which means anything can happen.
Florida State are 14 point favourites, while the total sits at 51.5
Virginia Tech will have a difficult time running the ball against a strong FSU front seven. VT quarterback Logan Thomas will be forced to play exception if they want to play the upset card here tonight.
VT has won the toss but have elected to kickoff to the Seminoles.
Short kick is returned for minimal gain. FSU will start from just about the 20.
1st and 10 - Manuel connects for a 9 yard pass across the middle.
2nd and 1 - Freeman with his first carry of the night, he goes up the middle for 3 or 4 yards and a FSU first down.
1st and 10 - Freeman for 3 yards again, this time to the right side
2nd and 7 - Manuel looks across the middle but the ball is dropped by Greg Dent
3rd and 7 - Manuel has plenty of time before he finds a wide open Greene down the middle of the field. Greene fumbles the ball near the end of the play but his teammate Dent falls on it resulting in a gain of 23
1st and 10- Manuel looks way down field, pass ends up incomplete but they earn a flag on the play. Pass Interference - First Down
1st and 10 - VT 28 - Freeman gets the rock but is stopped for a small gain of just 2
2nd and 8 - Manuel is under heavy pressure from the blitzing VT linebacker and ends up going down for the SACK
3rd and 17 - This time VT brings a big pass rush on 3rd down and they force Manuel to throw it incomplete . Big stop by the VT defense.
4th and 17 - They are lined up for a 52 yard FG attempt. TIME OUT
A very strong kick has the Seminoles on the board first. 3-0 FSU
Here comes Logan Thomas and the VT offense. They start from the 22
1st and 10- Phillips makes a short catch but is tackled immediately fro a gain of maybe 1
2nd and 9 - Fuller comes around on the end around and drops the ball on the exchange from Thomas. He picks it up and makes a first down out of the broken play.
1st and 10- VT 33 - TIME OUT - VT - Their 2nd alraedy
Where are all you die hard ACC football fans? Basketball doesn't start till tomorrow, come on!
1st and 10 - Logan Thomas throws deep down-field for a huge completion down to the FSU 15. Exactly what this Hokies team needed.
1st and 10 - Thomas throws incomplete on first down. Could have been a TD if the reception could have been made.
2nd and 10 - Incomplete pass but the FSU D is called for PI
1st and Goal from the FSU 7 - Coleman takes it on the ground and is met at the line. Slight loss.
2nd and Goal - Penalty HOLDING VT - Otherwise Thomas had taken off for a 10 yard TD run.
2nd and Goal - FSU 20- VT elects to do a short screen pass and they can only pick up a few yards. Looks like the penalty will prove costly. Lets see what they can do on 3rd.
3rd and Goal - A short pass is dropped, even if caught the play would have gone for a real short gain, either way the FG attempt would be coming up.
FIELD GOAL - IS GOOD - We are tied at 3!
The fans here at Lane Stadium have shown great enthusiasm thus far. The longer this game stays within reach for VT the better chance they have at taking advantage of this home field advantage.
A great kick off return by the speedy Joyner has FSU up to mid field.
1st and 10 - Manuel fakes the hand off before throwing deep down field to Dent for a gain of 40
Just like that it is 1st and Goal for FSU
1st and Goal - Freeman loses a yard on the carry.
2nd and Goal - Mauel fires to Dent but the db Bonner comes up with a great diving play to swat the ball down. Incomplete.
