Tune in at 8:00 PM ET as the Lakers take on the Knicks. James Herbert will be liveblogging for your enjoyment.
Lakers/Knicks, this is a pretty nice NBA on TNT Thursday game.
I'd like to call it the D'Antoni Bowl.
The Lakers are 9-13 and have lost their last three games. The Knicks? 16-5.
Before the season started, if you had reversed those records I would have thought that was about right.
@BOSSK3 All's good, excited for this game. How are you?
I'm looking at some pregame notes here and apparently former Yankee Bernie Williams is going to sing the national anthem. Cool.
@BOSSK3 Hah, maybe tonight's the night. Hard to believe what's happening with them.
@Tdot They've basically been saying "he's about two weeks away" since the beginning of the season. Here's hoping it's before the end of December.
@Tdot Here's a quote from Ramona Shelburne's latest piece: "On his first day in L.A., D'Antoni joked he'd probably start feeling better from reconstructive knee surgery about the same time Nash started feeling better. Like everyone else, he assumed Nash was "at most" a week away at that time. But now when people talk about Nash's return, every estimate begins with an "at least" and people around the league whisper that one more setback could cost Nash the rest of the season."
Apparently the MSG crowd booed Mike D'Antoni when he was introduced.
Aaand Bernie Williams didn't SING the anthem, he played it on guitar.
Tonight's commentating crew on TNT: Marv Albert, Steve Kerr an Charles Barkley. Pretty awesome.
@Tony Card They play again at Staples on Christmas Day.
@Toomuch Hahaha. Kinda tired, hoping it isn't too frenetic if I'm honest.
Lakers starters: Chris Duhon, Kobe Bryant, Metta World Peace, Antawn Jamison, Dwight Howard
Knicks starters: Jason Kidd, Raymond Felton, Ronnie Brewer, Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler
Just about set for tipoff at MSG.
Carmelo Anthony hits a three from the left wing on the Knicks' first possession.
He scored 45 the other day against the Nets.
Dwight Howard makes a jumper from the right side.
Felton gets open for a 17-footer on the left side, no good.
World Peace's post entry pass to Howard is deflected by Chandler, Anthony pulls up for a three in transition and it's money.
Turnovers have been killing these Lakers.
World Peace misses a three from the right corner, rebounded by Anthony.
Felton gets in the lane, hits a lefty layup.
Bryant with an over the shoulder pass to Jamison for a pick and pop three, no good.
