Roy Halladay (6-1) versus A.J. Burnett (2-0).
The dome is closed tonight - early reports that there will be around 35,000 in attendance at the Rogers Centre.
Roy Halladay has pretty good career numbers against the Yankees: 15-5 with a 2.86 ERA in 207.1 IP.
Yankees have confirmed that Derek Jeter will not be in the lineup tonight, he's out with an oblique strain. Sounds like he might have been hanging out with Ricky Romero.
I know, watch out Roy! That guy is deadly.
Oddly enough, 8 years to the day when A.J. Burnett threw that no-hitter with the Florida Marlins.
Was it a coincidence or clever rotation planning by the Yankees and Blue Jays that the very first game they play this season is Roy Halladay against A.J. Burnett?
Jeff Blair just tweeted that attendance could be around 37,000-38,000 for tonight.
Plus, don't forget that the most hated man in Toronto, Alex Rodriguez is in the lineup tonight. Has anyone seen him hanging around the Zanzibar lately?
I'm sure Doc will have a pretty good sense of what A.J.'s going to be throwing tonight. We need all the help we can get though!
Hot hitters for the Yankees over the last week:
Johnny Damon: .462 AVG, 13 RBI, 4 HR
Milky Cabrera: .381 AVG
Hot hitters for the Blue Jays over the last week:
Travis Snider: .400 AVG
Adam Lind: .400 AVG, 7 RBI, 1 HR
Marco Scutaro: .346 AVG,
Aaron Hill: .321, AVG, 7 RBI, 2 HR
Apparently Burnett arrived to a chorus of boos. No big surprise there.
It will be a big test for A.J., that's for sure. Facing off against the #1 offense in the American League.
Too bad you're on the other side of the country Dave, this would've been a good game to be there in the stands for.
Much like the "lower body injuries" of the NHL.
Here we go! Gardner to lead it off for the New York Yankees.
Halladay opens with strike down the middle, as the Rogers Centre comes alive.
Ground ball up the middle, 1 away.
Johnny Damon up at the plate - he's a .338 career hitter against Halladay.
Snider hustled on that ball to left field, and gunned down Johnny Damon at second base. The Yankees are pissed already.
Wow - that was a pretty close call, but Snider really chased that one down.
Mark Teixera pops up, I think the bat went farther than the ball did.
Holiday? Do you mean Halladay? Holliday plays for the A's.
The boo birds are out already as Burnett takes the mound.
Tonight: Roy Halladay (6-1) versus A.J. Burnett (2-0).
Toronto Blue Jays (22-12) versus New York Yankees (15-16).
I still think that many Jays fans are waiting for A.J. to hit the DL any week now.
Thanks! Well, at least you don't have too much longer to wait till 7:30.
Those boos in the Rogers Centre really echo when the dome is closed.
Scutaro grounds out to short, 1 away.
