Hello everyone. Welcome to Score Mobile's liveblog of today's AL East battle, BOS vs NYY
BOS is in dire need of a victory today. They dropped the 1st game of the series last night.
They have a mountain to climb, as they face CC today and Kuroda on Sunday night. BOS counters with Lester this afternoon and FelixD in game 3
And.... this afternoon's start time will be pushed back
I'm not sure. Fox, nor ESPN, nor the Yankees official weather report aren't giving me much to work with. According to the official Yankees Weather report:
"The game will not start on time at 4:05pm. We will continue to monitor the weather conditions and post an update when available."
Fox counters with the Dodgers at Giants. Baseball fans rejoice! Barry Zito is currently on the hill for SF
In the meantime we can turn this liveblog into an open chat regarding anything in the world of baseball.
I'm still waiting on official word regarding how long the delay will be
Matt Kemp just launched a 2-Run HR off of Barry Zito. Poor Zito. Poor Giants.
@m.feldherr I think they can contend with their current roster. That's assuming ARod returns and that the CC/Kuroda/Hughes/Nova rotation remains productive and healthy going into the playoffs
The #1 thing NYY is lacking in 2012, IMO, is depth. That includes in the lineup, rotation and in the bullpen. Obviously the team has had their share of injuries. Still, the Bronx Bombers lack legitimate full-time replacements in the upper minor league system
@sparkman.s They have a shot. One team I'm worried about is the Rays. They've quietly hovered around the .500 mark all season. If history is an indicator, they may have a strong Aug/Sept
Rain Update via a Twitter user: "It's pouring in Jersey, the rain is heading towards the Bronx. It's currently not raining there yet."
This type of delay can be looong. Wait for the rain, it comes, hope the field dries and then start the game. Hey, it wouldn't be BOS/NYY if it didn't take 4 - 5 hours for a game
No official update. However, there is a Flash Flood warning for the Bronx. That does not inspire confidence
Still awaiting official word. At this point I've heard 4:47, 5:30, 6:25 start times. The Tarp is still on the field
Even Fox is unsure of a potential start time. I don't get it. It's BOS/NYY and it's the first weekend of the olympics. Give us something, anything in regards to a start time!!!
@Peter Vander Sluis Has it? Where did you get the info?
@neal loucka I was under the impression that Crawford's off-days were scheduled in advance.
@Arc Previously I did. Although with OAK + LAA + TEX all coming on, it's possible that both Wild Cards could come out of the West.
@Arc - I'm not sold on BAL. If a team does come out of the East I think it will be TB or TOR (with NYY winning the division)
@rtz104 I agree. No updates regarding the rain delay.
@m.feldherr Does it? I haven't seen anything official from MLB.com or the Yankees
