NASTY curveball hits the outside corner and freezes Tex in his boots. Dirty stuff from Price there. One away for A-Rod.
Price really dealing that offspeed stuff now as A-Rod was looking hard but got soft. 0-2.
Good eye by A-Rod to lay off some outside junk and hang in at 1-2. A-Rod batting .323 (31-for-96) with 4HR in 25 games at Yankee Stadium in 2012.
Fastball high and A-Rod gets caught looking. Totally fooled on each of those strikes in the AB. Price settling in now. Two down for Cano.
Cano is 0-1 with a groundout in the game. He was robbed by Johnson in the 2nd who made a spectacular play at short.
Cano grounds weakly to the right side and the Yankee heart goes 1-2-3 to stop beating in the 3rd. Price looking dominant against the Yankee brass in that inning.
Due Up for Tampa Bay
6. C. Pena: 0-1
7. J. Lobaton: 1-1, RBI
8. M. Joyce: 0-1
@bub Great organization who does things right. Very smart baseball people over there for sure.
Pena takes a sweeping curve from CC for a strike on the outside corner to run the count even at 1-1. Pena always a top K candidate every time at the plate.
Pena now 1-8 in the series as his head is all the way down the 1st baseline as he swings through a CC change for the 1st out of the 4th.
Lobaton enters. His basehit brought Upton home in the 2nd for the icebreaker.
LOOK OUT! Lobaton's bat goes 5 rows up into the stands! Get some grip on those hands young fella!
Lobaton 2-2 now as he sends a basehit through the left side of the infield. Lobatone showing some hitting prowess to both sides of the diamond in this one. Look out Jose!
One on for Joyce, who immediately shoots a basehit just past the lunging Texiera at 1st. Ducks on the pond again with just one away for Sutton.
1-1 to Sutton as a CC change just misses the black on the outside corner. Pitch looked good from here. Nevertheless...
Sutton golfs a change to deep left that goes off the wall! Two will score and Sutton has his 2nd hit of the night; this one that scores two!
That change form CC has been hanging for an inning or two and a nice piece of hitting there from the soft hitting Sutton to just put the barrel on ball.
That was just Sutton's 2nd hit in his last 23 AB. Couldn't have come at a better time for the Rays.
CC promptly disposes of Johnson on three pitches for the 2nd out of the inning. RISP at 2nd for Zobrust, who takes a 1st pitch strike on the outside corner.
Zobrust just .145 with RISP this season, but singled home a run back in the 3rd. He's down in the count 0-2.
CC up to 75 pitches now through 4 and 2/3 as he misses on the outside to Zobrist to run the count full.
Swiiiing and a miss and Zobrist is down on strikes. The Rays pick up two on the Sutton double and lead it 5-1.
Disagree, but that AB was not helping me to refute that last comment.
Due Up for New York
6. N. Swisher: 1-1, R
7. A. Jones: 0-0, BB
8. J. Nix: 0-1
Interesting stat: The Rays have allowed the fewest earned runs in the AL, but at the same time they have allowed the most unearned runs in the majors (31).
Rays have committed 25 errors in their last 22 games and now have 49 overall. They have one tonight that lead to the only Yankee run of the game.
Swisher will lead it off to try and get a Yankee rally going. He owns Price and is 1-1 in the game.
Sure is @bub. Who do you see faltering and why (if anyone)?
3-1 is smacked back to Price, who snags it and throws to 1st to retire Swisher for the 1st out of the inning.
Jones takes a strike at the knees as Price's change is still dancing like a butterfly. Jones walked back in the 2nd.
It's a crazy division right now, but the Yanks and Sox are starting to pull it together - especially these Yanks winning 11 of their last 14 games.
