Tune in at 4:05 PM ET as the Dodgers take on the Reds. Rob Sturney will be liveblogging for your enjoyment.
Sorry, folks, that I'm so late. I've been trying to get one for about 1:20.
The Score uses ScribbleLive for liveblogging, and we had so many events going on this morning, that the "licenses exceeded" meant I couldn't get on.
Anyway, it's the Dodgers and Reds 0-0 in the top of the fourth. Kemp, Gonzalez and Ramirez are due to face Mat Latos.
Kemp grounds out in the 5-3. One away in the top of the 4th.
Lineups:
Dodgers:
M. Ellis 2B
Ethier RF
Kemp CF
Gonzalez 1B
Ramirez SS
Cruz 3B
Rivera LF
Ellis C
Fife P
Gonzalez strikes out. He had a single in the second inning.
Reds:
Phillips 2B
Paul LF
Votto 1B
Frazier 3B
Bruce RF
Heisey CF
Navarro C
Cozart SS
Latos P
Ramirez is at the 2-2 count. He fouls off to stay alive for the Dodgers.
The Reds were the first team in the majors to clinch a playoff spot on Thursday. They could've wrapped up the NL Central with a St. Louis loss today, but the Cards beat the Cubs in extra innings. This makes things tougher for the Dodgers to catch that wildcard bus. They're two games out.
Ramirez strikes out and that's three down for Latos.
Fife, in only his 5th MLB start, will see Bruce, Heisey and Navarro at the plate.
There's a very good chance. He leads the Reds in doubles too, with 40.
Fife is in for Kershaw . . .
Wow. He crushed that with light tower power. That's with 34th. That's keep him at 3rd in the NL. He is also fifth in the NL for RBI's with 97.
You called a home run, all right.
Heisey pops out in the outfield for one away.
Ramirez had the snag on that out.
As Fife gets Navarro, who popped out in the second, I'll continue my thought . . . Fife is in for Kershaw, who has a hip injury. Billingsley and Ted Lilly are also out. That won't help their run for the wildcard. Nor will this: the Dodgers have scored 3 runs or less in 12 of their last 15 games.
Navarro grounds out to the Ellis on second base. That's two away.
It sure should be! They win, they clinch the NL Central! The Queen City is buzzing.
I hope you two are old enough to remember that era like me.
Cozart is called out on strikes. He was out for 14 games with a sore left side. Usually an oblique injury. That's three away.
Well, I finally got into the game, just in time to see Bruce jack one out for the Reds lead.
Dave Conception was my fave player.
So Latos, who leads the team in K's (176) and BB's (62), will have Cruz, Rivera and AJ Ellis.
Cruz singles to right field.
Rivera hits into the double play. He won't get his 45th RBI in THIS inning.
