Tune in at 7:15 PM ET as the Dodgers take on the Angels. Matthias Koster will be liveblogging for your enjoyment.
Hello everyone. Game two of this series is right around the corner (7:15et first pitch).
Oh boy, Eric Karros is the color man on the Fox broadcast. He's one of the worst announcers in baseball IMO
In need of stats, updates, etc during the game? Let me know and I'll post them mid-stream or inbetween innings
Dee Gordon is in the on deck circle, awaiting his AB. Pitching for LAA is Ervin Santana
Santana is either hit or miss. He pitched a CG 1-hitter in his last start. However, in the each of the two starts beforehand he allowed 7 ER
Gordon stepping in. He has only a .269 OBP. Despite his speed, he needs to move down in the order until he produces
Coming in at 0 for 17, Gordon breaks the streak by hitting a seeing eye single thru the right side of the infield, into RF
Gordon on with a leadoff single. He has 21 SB this season. Jerry Hairston Jr. up in the #2 slot
Angels catcher Hester has allowed 12 of 14 to steal successfully this season
Pitch out... and it doesn't matter. Gordon steals second. That was a perfect pitch. Gordon just outran Santana and the ball.
Gordon on 2nd, and hey, he could steal third. 1-1 count to Hairston Jr.
Groundball to Pujols.... and Albert makes a terrible decision
Instead of taking the easy out at first, Pujols attempts to throw out Gordon at 3rd. Pujol's throw bounces, and then deflects off of Gordon. The ball goes into foul ground, which allows Gordon to score
LAD up 1-0. Scored a fielders choice. Gordon technically scores on a throwing error by Pujols
Hairston advanced to 2nd on the error. This could become a big inning for LAD. Ethier is at the plate with none out
High flyball to shallow CF. Trout, playing CF tonight, makes the catch and holds Hairston at 2nd
Hairston Jr. at 2nd, Abreu coming up to boos and with 1 out
Santana throwing low-mid 90's, 92, 93 MPH with his fastball. He also has a killer slider
Slider bounced, gets away from Hester. This allows Hairston Jr. to advance to third on a wild pitch.
So the slider is 'killer' on that pitch. Ugg, bad pun. 1-2 count to Abreu
Slow hit groundball to a drawn in infield. Abreu out at 1st, Hairston Jr. still at third. Now 2 outs, Rivera coming up
Santana even at 1-1. If he can escape this inning with only 1 run allowed
Late arriving crowd in ANH
Full count to Rivera. Santana has thrown 20 pitches. He threw a CG in his last appearance (102 pitches), will he be on a short leash?
Another error from the Angels
Easy groundball hit to third. Izturis is playing 3B. He makes a high throw to Puols. Albert has to jump up and catch the ball. This pulls him off the bag, allowing Rivera to reach safely
Hairston Jr. scored on the error and it's now 2-0.
Rivera on 1st, two outs, James Loney now at the plate
Inning finally over via a strikeout from Loney. The Dodgers score two runs, both unearned, on only 1 hit. Heading to bottom 1st, Mike Trout leading off
Chris Capunao, the former long-time Brewer, is pitching for the Dodgers. Capuano, after being cast aside from MIL, ended up with the Mets for a few seasons
Capunao has a great strikeout rate this season, setting down 80 via K in 86.1 IP
Trout leads off. He's played like a superstar this season
Flyout deep to CF, caught near the warning track. One down, Tori Hunter coming up
Hunter strikesout on 3 pitches, the final being 89 MPH high and outside. Two down, Pujols coming up
Mistake from Capuano, he hits Albert Pujols on an 0-2 pitch. Trumbo coming up with 2 down.
Trumbo having a great season, he's a lock for the All-Star team this year. Tonight he's playing LF
Trumbo fouling off a few high fastballs, behind 1-2 in the count.
Add two more foul balls. Count still 1-2
AB finally ends via a groundout to third. Good AB by Trumbo, regardless of the result. Heading to the 2nd, LAD up 2-0
We're back. 27 pitches from Santana in the 1st. 7/8/9 due for LAD. Elian Herrea leading off. He's an OBP, speedster type CF. He has 0 HR in 118 AB
