One of the seasons lowest over-unders, set at a mere 6.5 runs for tonights game. The Giants are a very slight fav at -113
We're gearing up. STL won the first game 6-4, holding onto an early lead throughout the night. Both teams are bringing their 'standard' lineups to the table
We're having problems with our Polls feature, feel free to post your score predictions for tonight
8:07 eastern may be optimistic, 1st pitch will probably be around 8:10. If you have any Q's during the game, etc please let me know and I'll do my best to post the answer mid-game or in-between innings
Alright, here we go. Ryan Vogelsong starting for SF. He doesn't receive any 'cred' from the blogosphere, simply because his standard stats (wins, ERA) are always much better than his internal stats.
He starts off the night with a 91 MPH FB for strike one. Vogelsong really lives and dies on his cut fastball
Jay leads off, hits a liner out to CF. Pagan losses the ball in the sun, recovers, takes a very nice route and makes a catch in stride near the CF warning track.
One down, Beltran coming up
Beltran fights back from being down 1-2, earns a walk.
Holliday up with one down, Beltran on first
2-1 cutter in a decent location, but it doesn't matter to Holliday, as he turns on it and hits a hard single into LF
There are now Cardinals on 1st/2nd, one out, Craig
coming up
GREAT takeout slide by Holilday breaks up a double play. BUT Scutaro appears to be hurt
It was a groundball to SS. Scutaro was on the relay at 2nd. Holliday went wide with his slide, basically tackled Scutaro at the bag. Craig beat out the relay at 1st.
Cards on 1st/3rd, two outs, Molina coming up.
Scutaro appears to be ok. That's hard hitting playoff baseball!
Slow hit groundball to SS. Crawford comes in, fields and throws out Molina at 1st to end the inning. STL strand a couple of runners, and we're still at 0-0 heading to the bottom 1st
Pagan leading off the bottom 1st
@Giants fan 100 One of the unwritten rules in Baseball. As long as a punch isn't throw, the umps let just about anything go during takeout slides
WOW, PAGAN GOES DEEEEEEP FOR A SOLO HR
Pagan smoked a 1-2 pitch over the RF wall, perhaps into McCovey Cove
Hanging cutter. The ball didn't make it to the cove but was a line drive shot. SF up quickly 1-0
Scutaro now up, takes an 0-1 pitch up the middle, into CF for a single. And the park is ROCKING in SF
Scutaro on 1st, none out, Sandoval coming up
FOX showed a replay of the Pagan HR. Rounding 3rd base he gave a military style salute to the Cardinals bench. That won't go over well, I wouldn't be surprised to see Pagan knocked down during his next AB
Keeping with that note, Holliday may be knocked down as well after his takeout slide last inning
Sandoval hits a foul infield pop-up, caught by Freese for a big first out. Posey coming up, Cards infield at remains at DP depth
Sorry, I was taken in by the terrible Tim McCarver. Pagan saluted the GIANTS duggout, not the Cards. My bad for trusting this clown commentary crew on FOX tv
3-1 outside fastball = the second straight foul infield pop-up, this time caught on the opposite side by 1st baseman Craig
