A victory for City would see them keep pace with United as joint leaders at the top of the table, as the Red Devils earned a 2-1 victory against Arsenal earlier in the day. If the guests score four goals or more, they will go top of the table on their own, via goal difference.

9 mins: City on the ball now with Nasri. The guests doing very well to contain the middle and have a series one-two touches. The Frenchman has a shot which is well saved by Jaaskelainen, it comes to the head of Dzeko, who goes for goal, a diving Balotelli tries to latch onto it, but he misses. The referee's flag was up anyway.

The home side go on a rare offensive attack, and it ends with a powerful run and dangerous shot from Diame, who collected the ball on the edge of the area to the left, he shimmied just into the area, but his blistering shot was just over the crossbar. Good chance there for the home side.

17 mins: What a chance by West Ham! A diagonal pass from Noble finds Jarvis on the left touchline. He crosses to the far post and finds an onrushing Benayoun, who volleys, but it hits the crossbar! The guests push up the pitch following the goal kick and win a free kick from just outside the West Ham area.

30 mins: Dzeko and Nasri working a tight one-two on the left edge of the West Ham area. The Bosnian then plays it out wide for Clichy, who crosses into the area, but Benayoun is there to head away for a corner, from the right.
Tevez takes, but it ends with Carroll clearing away. -
32 mins: Free kick City from the left side of the West Ham half. Tevez to deliver...
He finds Balotelli unmarked and onside in the area, but instead of getting a head on it, he tries to volley it first time, but it goes over the bar. Mancini visibly frustrated with the game in the balance here, as the guests starting to dominate possession. -
