11 mins: Parker runs at the United defence and tries to play a through ball for Defoe, but Ferdinand does well to track back and block it out. It comes back to Parker, who tries a shot from 25 yards out, but nothing doing. Home side applying early pressure, but United equal to the task. -

-
14 mins: Lennon again getting into the action on the right, as United are on the back foot. Space then opens up on the edge of the area and the Englishman has a shot, but his shot is a low, skidding effort with his left foot, but De Gea does well to get down and push it away. It falls to Defoe on the rebound, but he's whistled for the offside. -

24 mins: Parker tries to link up with Defoe again, but Vidic is well aware of it and does well to interject and win the ball back. Kagawa then does well to open Tottenham up as he finds Carrick who then plays it out wide to Welbeck on the left. Welbeck makes a run across the centre and finds Cleverley on the right. -
25 mins: GOAL! United 1-0! RVP! An inch perfect cross from Cleverley on the right to the far post finds a virtually unmarked RVP who rises up and heads past a diving Lloris. For all the early pressure applied by the home side, its the guests who find the back of the net first. RVP with yet another memorable return to north London.

39 mins: Free kick Tottenham after Parker is fouled in the United final third. Bale delivers the free kick to the far post on the right, but United defend well. Lennon then crosses into the area from the right, but some great defensive work stifles the Spurs the attack, as Carrick clears the cross. It then comes back out to Bale but De Gea gets down and blocks well. Encouraging from Tottenham that. -

45 mins: RVP delivers the corner and it ping-pongs around the area, as Vidic slides around. United win their second corner in succession. Dawson heads away the second attempt from RVP, as the referee calls for two minutes of time added on at the end of the first half.
United still pressing though. Rafael tries a pass, but Spurs break down the left with Dempsey. He crosses, but Carrick blocks it and Spurs have a corner.
