Tune in at 8:30 AM ET as Manchester United takes on Liverpool. Rob Sturney will be liveblogging for your enjoyment.
I'm Rob Sturney here with the Score's continuing coverage of the EPL. Today we come from Old Trafford for a renewal of the fierce rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool.
Sir Alex doesn't have Rooney at his disposal as the forward's knee is still heeling. Rodgers has new fellow Sturridge on the bench to start.
However, we do have the two top EPL scorers out there today. Van Persie has 16 goals and Suarez has 15.
Lineups: Manchester United: De Gea, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Rafael; Carrick, Cleverley, Welbeck, Young; Kagawa, Van Persie SUBS: Amos, Smalling, Jones, Giggs, Anderson, Valencia, Hernandez
Liverpool: Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Wisdome, Johnson; Lucas, Allen, Downing, Gerrard; Sterling, Suarez SUBS: Jones, Carragher, Robinson, Henderson, Shelvey, Sturridge, Borini
Sir Alex has his cagey vets in central defense. Welbeck and Young are the wingers and Kagawa will play a Rooney role.
Borini's ankle is on the mend, but he's on the bench to begin. Rodgers also has Enrique and Kelly out with injuries. No 3-5-2 or a variation of such. Wisdom covers for Enrique today. Gerrard will be free to come forward and supply Suarez and Sterling.
Manchester United leads the EPL by seven points. Man City will play Arsenal later today. They've won their past three games versus Newcastle, West Brom and Wigan.
Liverpool is in 8th place and have lost to Stoke before beating QPR and Sunderland in their last three.
Manchester United beat Liverpool at Anfield 2-1 on September 23.
I thought we'd see Shelvey out there, and why not start Sturridge? Good to see Kagawa starting and I like the Welbeck/Young winger combination. On his day, Young can be a fantastic provider.
Evans picked up a hamstring injury, which is why he's not dressed today and Ferdinand is in central defense with Vidic.
Manchester will be in their traditional red jerseys and white shorts, while Liverpool sports their change kit of black with grey trim.
I have this odd feeling that we'll see a rare Red Devil draw here today, with markers from both big scorers on these two teams.
I'm positive we'll see both today.
We're not too far from the kick off at Old Trafford.
I think the captain has recovered well and is solid.
De Gea is clad in green. Howard Webb and crew are in yellow shirts and black shorts.
The teams are out on the pitch, looking steely-eyed with determination.
Strange to see Welbeck and Young flip-flopped on the field. Young is better on the left . . .
Reina wears a grey jersey and yellow shorts. Egads.
United will be attacking from left to right in the first half. Left to right. They'll kick us off as well.
With the red socks, the Liverpool uniform is kind of interesting. Nope, Reina is in all yellow, which might get confusing with the officials wearing something similar.
2 min: Both sides probe the others' defenses indirectly to start the game. The game will be won in the midfield.
3 min: Young fouls in Liverpool's territory and the Merseysiders play it as a pass. Johnson can't keep the ball in play.
4 min: Evra does well to advance the play and then find Kagawa, who crosses to Reina.
4 min: Gerrard throws himself about in the midfield. He doesn't win the throw in call. Wisdom gets a hold of it on the right side, but the end result comes back to De Gea to distribute.
5 min: Welbeck holds up the ball, makes the outlet to Young on the right. The play dies when Evra gets in a cross grabbed by Reina.
I'll take some of that action!
